Need help with travel plans impacted by COVID-19? Below are some options for you to change or cancel your upcoming travel plans:

I am currently travelling or am planning to travel within the next 72 hours

For RBC clients who booked travel through RBC Rewards and require changes, please contact our Travel Rewards Call Centre at 1-877-636-28701-877-636-2870.

Future Travel Plans

In accordance with the latest travel advisories, we are not recommending that clients book new travel at this time, unless it is to arrange for return travel home. If you are booking new travel, please remember to consider the following:

  • Be aware of the changes providers are making to their travel insurance policies regarding COVID-19.
  • Be aware of the cancellation / change policy specific to the airline or travel provider you are booking with.

Cancellation, change and insurance policies

For Hotel Bookings until July 31, 2020:

  • Go to RBC Rewards Travel
  • Click on “Find out more” in the Travel Advisory section of the page
  • Select the “Cancel trip” option and follow the instruction

For all other travel bookings

Please contact RBC Rewards Travel at 1-877-636-28701-877-636-2870. Please note airlines and other travel providers are updating their COVID19 cancelation policies often. RBC Rewards will process your cancelation according to your travel providers policies.

You may still receive communication from your travel provider with check-in information, details on your flight etc. No need to worry - we continue to experience a significant volume of requests; however, we will ensure that your cancellation goes through. There is no need to follow-up with us at this time.

We understand that many clients are trying to change bookings made through RBC Rewards. If you are trying to change your travel plans, please call 1-877-636-28701-877-636-2870.

If you want to cancel and receive a full refund, please follow the instructions below. Please note cancellation policies vary based upon check in date and you need to cancel your booking within the eligible cancellation window to receive a refund. You can find the booking cancellation policy on the booking itinerary page, and you will only qualify for a refund if you cancel your booking within the cancellation window.

  • Go to RBC Rewards Travel - select Travel and click the Book Travel option
  • Select the "My Trips" option
  • Select the itinerary you would like to cancel and follow the instructions if you want to cancel a hotel reservation and it is less than 48 hr

Please note that due to the large number of cancellations, it may take up to 30 days for you to receive your refund.

If you want to cancel a hotel reservation and it is less than 48 hours before your check-in, please contact our Travel Rewards Call Centre at 1-877-636-28701-877-636-2870.

Clients must contact their travel provider who made the original booking (i.e., RBC Rewards Travel Call Centre if Rewards points were used), in order to facilitate any changes or cancellations. To support you during this time, RBC Rewards will not be charging any RBC change fees. Please note that travel providers do have specific policies where change and cancellation fees may be applied. Please consult with your travel provider for their specific policies:

We encourage clients to:

  • Refer to their travel insurance policy/certificate, and
  • Contact their travel insurance provider
    • If you have travel insurance on your RBC credit card or have purchased RBC travel insurance please submit your trip cancellation or interruption claim online at your earliest convenience. Please note that you have up to 1 year from the date your trip was interrupted or cancelled to file your claim.
    • RBC clients with other travel insurance should contact their travel insurance providers directly.

Note: All insurance providers, including RBC Insurance, are experiencing high-call volumes and clients may experience longer wait times due to this global situation.
